First House of Hope TNBC Meet-Up Brings People Together in Edinburgh

The UK Charity for TNBC was delighted to join The House of Hope in Edinburgh this week for its first meet-up dedicated to people affected by Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC).

Our Founder, Robin Woolcock, joined Rosie Small and a group of women affected by TNBC for an evening of open conversation, shared experiences and connection. 

They were also joined by Professor Susanne Cruickshank, who brought her experience and insight to the discussion. Susanne is an advisor and contributor to The UK Charity for TNBC’s educational webinars for specialist breast cancer nurses, helping us support healthcare professionals to better understand the experiences and needs of people affected by TNBC.

The evening was another reminder of just how powerful it can be to meet someone who understands what you are going through and think: “you’re just like me.”

None of the women attending knew each other when they arrived, but conversation quickly began to flow as people shared their experiences, asked questions and spoke openly about some of the challenges that can come with a TNBC diagnosis. 

TNBC remains one of the most challenging breast cancer subtypes for both those diagnosed and the healthcare professionals caring for them. However, a diagnosis should never be without hope. People deserve clear information, honest conversations, support and opportunities to connect with others who understand what they are experiencing.

Events like this show why spaces dedicated to the TNBC community are so valuable. We are proud to work alongside The House of Hope Scotland and look forward to seeing its regular TNBC meet-ups continue to grow, bringing more people together in Edinburgh and helping ensure that no one affected by TNBC feels they are facing it alone.
