What is The UK Charity for TNBC?

The UK Charity for TNBC is a volunteer-led, non-profit organisation dedicated exclusively to triple negative breast cancer (TNBC). We combine lived experience with clinical expertise to provide trusted TNBC information, educate healthcare professionals and advocate for greater recognition of TNBC.

We exist so everyone affected by TNBC can find clear, accurate, TNBC-specific information, and so TNBC is better understood and more effectively addressed in care and research.

Our Mission

Our mission is to inform, educate and empower - improving understanding of triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) and helping drive better support, care and outcomes.

We do this by making TNBC-specific knowledge easier to access and act on for:

  • people affected by TNBC, including patients, families, friends and carers

  • healthcare professionals, including breast care nurses supporting TNBC patients

  • wider healthcare stakeholders, by sharing lived-experience insights that highlight real unmet needs

We turn lived experience and clinical insight into practical action to deliver our mission in four key ways:

  • Informing

We create and distribute clear, evidence-based TNBC-specific information and practical resources.

  • Educating

We support healthcare professionals to build confidence and consistency in TNBC care through specialist education via our TNBC CHAMPIONS programme.

  • Listening

Our work is guided by real people affected by TNBC, including our Patient Advisory Panel, so our priorities reflect real-world needs of those with TNBC.

  • Advocating

We champion better recognition of TNBC in treatment, research and policy - helping ensure TNBC is not overlooked.

Our Story

The UK Charity for TNBC was founded by Robin Woolcock, in memory of his wife Ruth, and from a determination to improve understanding, care and outcomes for others facing TNBC.

Why have a charity exclusively for TNBC?

A charity dedicated to triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) is essential because TNBC is biologically and clinically different from other forms of breast cancer. Those differences can affect treatment pathways and the questions people face at diagnosis and beyond - which means general cancer information doesn’t always meet TNBC-specific needs.

While many cancer organisations offer excellent resources and support, they can’t always address the unique questions, needs and challenges of people with TNBC. By focusing solely on TNBC, we can:

  • make TNBC information clearer, accurate and easier to find

  • address the specific challenges people experience with TNBC

  • support better-informed care by educating breast care nurses and other healthcare professionals about TNBC

The people behind our charity

Our charity is powered by volunteers and guided by lived experiences of TNBC. Clinical experts ensure the TNBC information and resources we publish are both accurate and accessible.

Our values

Everything we do is guided by principles that mirror the TNBC community’s real needs and strengths:

  • Compassion

We lead with empathy and humanity. Every action we take is shaped by the lived experiences of people affected by TNBC.

  • Visibility

We work to ensure TNBC is no longer overlooked. Through awareness, education and advocacy, we help to make this under-recognised breast cancer visible to all.

  • Knowledge

We believe that access to accurate, timely, and understandable information is a right. We champion education for patients, carers, and healthcare professionals alike.

  • Lived-Experience Led

Our work is guided by people with a TNBC diagnosis, including those that form our Patient Advisory Panel, ensuring our priorities reflect the real-world needs of the TNBC community.

  • Collaboration

We build bridges between patients, clinicians, researchers and policymakers to drive meaningful and lasting change.

  • Equity

We strive for a world where everyone affected by TNBC, regardless of background or postcode, receives the support and care they deserve.
