What We Do
The UK Charity for TNBC supports people affected by triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) by providing trusted TNBC information, education for healthcare professionals and patient-informed advocacy. We combine clinical expertise with lived experience to help ensure TNBC is recognised, understood and prioritised in care, training and research.

Information for people affected by TNBC
We publish TNBC-specific information that is clinically informed, practical and easy to understand - so people can make sense of their diagnosis, feel supported and find relevant guidance easily.
TNBC information on our website
The TNBC information available on our website is developed with clinical expertise from Professor Chris Twelves, a professor of Clinical Cancer Pharmacology and Oncology and practising oncologist, helping to ensure our content is clear, accurate and reliable.
Learn more about Professor Chris Twelves and the wider team supporting our work on Our Team.
To make information more specific and useful, we organise it by TNBC stage:
➔ Primary TNBC (also known as early TNBC)
➔ Metastatic TNBC (also known as advanced TNBC)
TNBC leaflets for patients
We produce two TNBC leaflets - one for Primary (early) TNBC and one for Metastatic (advanced) TNBC - developed with clinical input and shaped by volunteers with lived TNBC experience. They’re designed to help people with TNBC understand their diagnosis, treatment pathways and where to find support.
Our aim is to get these TNBC leaflets into the hands of real patients by making them available in every cancer hospital, clinic and waiting room across the UK. They are already shared in trusted settings, including several Maggie’s centres.
The leaflets are also available on our website, and are often printed by breast care nurses to use in practice and to give to TNBC patients.
Signposting to trusted support
No single organisation can provide every kind of support. We signpost to reputable organisations that provide services and resources - including support tailored to particular groups, such as Black women, who are disproportionately diagnosed with TNBC.
Education and support for healthcare professionals
TNBC CHAMPIONS
Through our TNBC CHAMPIONS programme, we help educate breast care specialist nurses and other healthcare professionals about TNBC so they can better answer questions, provide informed support and share learning with colleagues.
Via our TNBC CHAMPIONS programme, we:
Deliver monthly virtual webinars (with new topics each month)
Provide access to the TNBC CHAMPIONS portal which contains a library of past webinars plus practical resources professionals can use in practice and share with patients (including leaflets and tools to support conversations surrounding treatment)
Funding breast care specialist nurse training
The UK Charity for TNBC has funded five breast care specialist nurses through the RCN Foundation to undertake further education and training, supporting stronger specialist knowledge and clinical skills in breast cancer care - helping to enhance care for people affected by breast cancer.
Michelle, one of the specialist breast care nurses to receive our support, said:
“Receiving funding from Triple Negative Breast Cancer charity to complete this course has been much appreciated. I love my job as a Breast Care Nurse, being there for people diagnosed with a breast cancer and throughout their journey. What I have learned through this course has increased my knowledge and skills, giving me the confidence to give holistic care to patients with their family and friends by putting theory into practice, and being the best support I can.”
Patient Advisory Panel
Lived experience sits at the centre of our work. We invite people across the UK with lived experience of TNBC to join our Patient Advisory Panel (PAP), sharing their insights and experiences with diagnosis, treatment, quality of life and unmet needs. This helps ensure the voice of the patient helps to shape the future of TNBC care and strengthens our patient advocacy work.
Patient Advisory Panel feedback helps guide:
the information and resources we publish
the education we provide for healthcare professionals
our engagement with partners including NICE and RCNi and healthcare stakeholders such as pharmaceutical companies involved in guidance, policymaking, research and treatment development
Representing the TNBC community
We represent the voice of the TNBC community across the UK and internationally, including through attendance at medical and research conferences. We do this to raise awareness, build partnerships and advocate for better recognition and resources for TNBC within oncology and research communities.
