Bringing the Voice of TNBC to AstraZeneca’s Advocacy Leaders Summit
The UK Charity for TNBC was delighted to join cancer charities and advocacy organisations from across the UK at the recent AstraZeneca’s Advocacy Leaders Summit, helping to ensure the voice of the triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) community was represented in important conversations about the future of cancer care.
Our Founder, Robin Woolcock, attended the summit alongside organisations of all sizes representing many different cancer communities. The event provided an opportunity to share experiences, discuss common challenges and consider how greater collaboration can help support the ambitions of the Government’s Cancer Plan.
Although every cancer community has its own needs and experiences, one thing quickly became clear: many of the challenges faced by patients, families, healthcare professionals and charities are shared.
Bringing organisations together creates an important opportunity to learn from one another, share knowledge and identify new ways to work collaboratively. By combining experience and strengthening the collective voice of the cancer community, we can increase the opportunity to influence meaningful change and improve outcomes for people affected by cancer.
For The UK Charity for TNBC, being part of these discussions is particularly important. Triple Negative Breast Cancer can present different challenges from other forms of breast cancer, and we want to make sure the experiences, needs and priorities of the TNBC community are heard by the organisations and decision-makers helping to shape the future of cancer care.
We are grateful to AstraZeneca for inviting us to take part in the Advocacy Leaders Summit and for bringing together charities representing such a wide range of cancer communities.
The discussions also reflected the scale of the challenge ahead, including AstraZeneca’s ambition of helping to achieve zero cancer deaths by 2050. Reaching ambitious targets will require cooperation across charities, healthcare, research, industry and government, with each organisation bringing its own knowledge, experience and perspective.
By listening to one another and finding new ways to work together, we can build a stronger collective voice while continuing to ensure that TNBC has a place within the wider conversation.
Together, we can help make TNBC seen, heard and understood.
