Maggie’s 30 Year Celebration

The UK Charity for TNBC would like to congratulate Maggie’s as it celebrates 30 years of supporting people affected by cancer.

Maggie’s was founded by Maggie Keswick, a breast cancer patient in Edinburgh. Maggie’s vision was and still is, that no one should have to go through cancer alone. The first Maggie’s centre opened in 1996, and since then the charity has grown into a much-loved network of welcoming spaces offering practical, emotional and psychological support to people with cancer, as well as their families and friends.

Over the past three decades, Maggie’s ‘just come in’ centres have welcomed millions of visitors seeking everything from just a place to sit and think, to medical advice or full professional  psychiatric support.

By the end of 2026 there will be 30 Maggie’s centres in the grounds of most of the main breast care hospitals in the UK - 30 centres in 30 years! Each centre has a unique and creative architecture that adds to the feeling of openness and peace, in major contrast to a busy out-patient clinic.

Each centre is having its own party throughout this year to thank the many fundraisers and volunteers that make Maggie’s work. Happy 30th birthday, Maggie’s - and congratulations on 30 years of care, compassion and support.
